March Slate Includes Sarah Hagan and Keith Poulson in Kim Sherman’s Sundance 2016 Winner “Dogwalker,” Jonathan Dee’s “A Mighty Nice Man,” Starring Kristen Connolly (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS), and More 

Vimeo announces March’s slate of Staff Pick Premieres, with a different one debuting each Wednesday; Vimeo’s popular Staff Pick channel is curated by a four-person team that highlights the best short-form content on the platform. The Staff Pick laurel emblazons each selected short, which has often screened at a high profile film festival, and the short can get between 50,000 and 200,000 views in one day.

This month’s slate includes Sarah Hagan (Millie of “Freaks and Geeks”) and Keith Poulson (LISTEN UP PHILIP) in Kim Sherman’s Sundance 2016 winner “Dogwalker,” and Jonathan Dee’s “A Mighty Nice Man,” starring Kristen Connolly (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS).

Staff Pick Premieres are weekly global online premieres of a pre-selected Staff Pick. Vimeo supports each Staff Pick Premiere via on and off-site promotion, including editorial coverage and marketing support. In addition, Staff Pick Premieres have an open submission process for any film that has played at an Oscar-qualifying event within the last 24 months.

March 1st: “Dogwalker” – Comedy (Dir. Kim Sherman)
Synopsis: A young dog walker’s worst nightmare comes true as she discovers one of her favorite client’s beloved pets has passed away. Forced to take action while the family is away on vacation, she must rely on the kindness of strangers, and the Chicago Public Transportation System, to transport the recently deceased to the vet for safe keeping. Starring Sarah Hagan (“Freaks and Geeks”) and indie darling Keith Poulson (LISTEN UP PHILIP).

About the Filmmaker: Kim Sherman is an award winning independent film producer and director. Sherman’s production work has come with high recognition, including a fellowship with the 2011 Sundance Institute’s Creative Producing Labs, a spot on Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces List of 2012, and a fellowship with the 2014 Sundance Institute/Women In Film Women’s Initiative.  Sherman has produced festival favorites such as WILD CANARIES (dir. Lawrence Michael Levine, SXSW 2014), as well as the breakout home-invasion thriller, YOU’RE NEXT (dir. Adam Wingard, Lionsgate 2013). “Dogwalker” premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival where it won several awards, including the Kodak Short Film Prize, the Technicolor Short Film Prize, and the Women in Film/Women at Sundance Short Film Prize. Her latest film, the horror/comedy GHOSTING, was selected as part of Ray-Ban's 2015 campaign for change, and can be seen through Never Hide Films.

March 8th: “Bath House” – Animation, (Dir. Niki Lindroth von Bahr)
Synopsis: Six characters meet in a public bath house. The pedant bath house manager, a couple with a strange way of communicating and a gang with shady intentions. Something goes wrong.

About the Filmmaker: Niki Lindroth von Bahr is an artist and animation director based in Stockholm, Sweden. “Bath House” (2014), as well as her film “Tord and Tord” (2010), have been screened at festivals around the world, such as Berlinale, Sundance and Annecy. “Tord and Tord” were also nominated as Best Short film at Guldbaggegalan (Main Swedish film award) 2011 and Bath House won the Grand Prix at Anima in Brussels 2015.

Along with making her own films, Lindroth von Bahr also works with sculpture and costume design. In 2016, she and Nicklas Nilsson designed and made the costumes for David Bowie’s music video “Blackstar,” directed by Johan Renck. Lindroth von Bahr’s new film, the animated musical “The Burden,” premiered at Göteborg International Film Festival in january 2017, where it was given the Short Film Grand Award (Startsladden) as well as the Audience Award.

March 15th: “Northbound” – Documentary, (Jørn Nyseth Ranum)
Synopsis: Ice, driftwood, foamy waves and … skateboards? In this poetic short film by Jørn Nyseth Ranum, four skaters head north to the cold Norwegian coast, applying their urban skills to a wild canvas of beach flotsam, frozen sand and pastel skies. The result is a beautiful mashup — biting winds and short days, ollies and one ephemeral quarterpipe.

About the Filmmaker: Jørn Nyseth Ranum has been filming since he first got his hands on his father’s video camera at a young age. He studied at Nordland College of Art and Film in Lofoten, Norway, and with his classmate Inge Wegge, embarked upon a nine-month adventure, living in a cabin made of driftwood on a remote arctic island off of the Norwegian coast and surfing some of the coldest waters in the world. The experience was the subject of Ranum and Wegge’s film “North of the Sun.” “Northbound” is Jørn’s latest project, where he combines two of his biggest passions: skateboarding and nature.

March 22nd: “A Mighty Nice Man” – Drama, (Dir. Jonathan Dee)
Synopsis: An eight-year-old girl naively accepts a ride in a stranger's car without her mother's knowledge. Based on the short story by Patricia Highsmith. Starring Kristen Connolly (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS).

About the Filmmaker: Jonathan Dee received his BA in Film Directing from Loyola Marymount University and an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University. His South Africa-set short film “Lily” went on to win numerous awards including Best Director and Best Film at the DGA. He is a founding partner at Ellmaker+Dee, where he has directed commercial work around the globe for Audi, Lexus, Dodge, LONB, Sotheby’s, and a thirty second Chevy Equinox spot for the 2014 World Cup. “A Mighty Nice Man” was the recipient of a HBO Development Award, National Board of Review Award, and was one of seven short films nominated for a BAFTA Award in 2015.

March 29th: “Brad Cuts Loose” – Comedy, (Dir. Christopher Good)
Synopsis: Brad, an uptight office drone, seemingly discovers the perfect vehicle for letting off steam when an advertisement for a business catering to his innermost desires pops up one morning on his computer. Brad's subsequent visit to the business and encounter with its receptionist Janine, however, don't quite go as planned. Starring Kentucker Audley, Tipper Newton, John Ennis, and Wilson Vance.

About the Filmmaker: Christopher Good has directed music videos for artists such as Jens Lekman, Kevin Morby, PWR BTTM, Okkervil River, Joyce Manor, and others. “Brad Cuts Loose” is his most recent film and it premiered at the 2017 Slamdance Film Festival.
